Dance Connect is Ulverston's Community Dance School. The school opened in September 2004. Since then it has grown considerably and has around 50 dance students from the ages of 3 up to 16 years. The school commences in term time only. The classes run on a Tuesday evening at St Mary's Old School Hall, Victoria Road, Ulverston.
Dance Connect offers professional tuition in Musical Theatre, Jazz, Modern, and Freestyle dance for students of the ages 6 upwards. 'Boogaloo' is an Educational and Creative dance session for 3-5 yrs and 'yummy Mummies' get the chance to join in too! Making this a lively and energetic class full of fun and laughter, while keeping you fit at the same time! New to the school (on Mondays 4.30-5.30pm) is DC STREET BEATZ BOYZ, a Hip Hop, Street & Funk infused dance class for boyz aged 7-11yrs. Also the popular ZUMBA FITNESS classes take place on a Monday and Wednesday morning for all you ladies....
Dance Connect students regularly perform in events in and around Cumbria. Students are offered the chance to perform at The Brewery Arts Dance Platform in Kendal, The Ulverston Carnival, Local Dance Presentations at the The GlaxoSmithKline Sports and Social Club and Demonstration's of Work including workshops with local drumming band S.T.I.X. Students also have the chance to exhibit their own choreography with Dance Connect's Dance X Factor and our in-house choreography competitions. Their biggest performance is being hosts of THE SOUTH LAKES COMMUNITY DANCE FESTIVAL every other year. All students have the chance to perform at the Coronation Hall in December for this event! In 2008 UCAN asked Dance Connect to perform at The Lantern Procession at Ford Park, Ulverston. Dance Connect students have also performed at the Lanternhouse International as part of the VC3 digital dance project with local artists FOLLY from Lancaster. This year 2012 the Senior Dancers will be performing at U.V.H.S Primary Dance Platform (Co/Founders) again, also The Brewery Arts Dance Platform, The Ulverston Charter Festival, Ulverston Carnival and are hosting The South Lakes Community Dance Festival 2012. This event has proved so successful it now takes place over two nights.
At Dance Connect we aim to build our students confidence with dance expertise and the knowledge of our craft and we continue to grow and produce diverse and innovative dance that stretches the imagination!
